Sometimes we may be a bit hard to get in touch with and we apologize. My mom and I both have foster children and sometimes their needs are great. I do infants mostly and my mom has a teenager :) It is challenging and demanding, but rewarding and they are worth it!!!!

Cowboy Boots Explained

Cowboy boot
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Cowboy boots)
Jump to: navigation, search

Ad for Tony Lama featuring custom boots made for President Harry S. Truman.Cowboy boots refer to a specific style of riding boot, historically worn by cowboys. They have a high heel, rounded to pointed toe, high shaft, and, traditionally, no lacing. Cowboy boots are normally made from cowhide leather but are also sometimes made from "exotic" skins such as alligator, snake, ostrich, lizard, eel, elephant, sting ray, elk, buffalo, and the like.

There are two basic styles of cowboy boots, western (or classic), and roper. The western style is distinguished by a tall boot shaft, going to at least mid-calf, with an angled "cowboy" heel, usually over one inch high. A slightly lower, still angled, "walking" heel is also common. Although western boots can be customized with a wide variety of toe shapes, the classic design is a narrowed, usually pointed, toe.

A newer design, the "roper" style, has a short boot shaft that stops above the ankle but before the middle of the calf, with a very low and squared-off "roper" heel, shaped to the sole of the boot, usually less than one inch high. Roper boots are usually made with rounded toes, but, correlating with style changes in streetwear, styles with a squared toe are seen. The roper style is also manufactured in a lace-up design which often fits better around the ankle and is less likely to slip off, but these two features also create safety issues for riding.

***Consumer Product Safety Commission - Children's Items Recalled This Week***

December 04, 2008 | 04:07PM PST/PT

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently issued a recall for the following items:

JCPenny recalls Arizona Newborn and Infant Denim pants due to choking hazard
Groovy Fashions and Sassy Jammies doll clothing sets recalled by Manhattan Group due to violation of the Lead Paint Standard
OKK Trading recalls Army Figure toys due to violation of the Lead Paint Standard
Meijer Inc. recalls Toddler Girl's Hat and Mitten set due to choking hazard
eBay takes recalled items very seriously, and we work closely with the Consumer Product Safety Commission on these issues. We encourage buyers and sellers to visit http://www.cpsc.gov (see the Recent Recalls section) for more details about the products and model numbers included in this recall. You may also wish to visit our Recalled Items policy at http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/recalled.html.

For Sellers: Please check your product model numbers and refrain from listing any items that are part of this recall. Any currently listed items that are included in the recall should be ended.

For Buyers: If you believe an item you are interested in bidding on or purchasing may be part of this recall, we encourage you to use the Ask Seller a Question feature to verify.

As a service to our Community, eBay announces some product recalls, like these, when we believe the marketplace will be impacted. To stay informed about all CPSC recalls, please bookmark www.cpsc.gov and sign up to receive notices on new recalls issued by the CPSC.

Sabino Canyon 7 Falls Trail

Don't let the barren space and brown tones of the desert trick you into thinking you can't find beauty in the desert. For years, well, about 35 years, I have visited Sabino Canyon in the Santa Catalina Mountains. While there is a vendor who runs a tram through the Canyon, there are many people who hike in and out. Some of the tram drivers offer a little history of the area, the geology and the wildlife. One of my favorite hikes is 7 Falls.

Seven Falls
Santa Catalina Mountains

Total Length 7.8 miles
Highest Elevation: 3250 feet
Lowest Elevation: 2600 feet
Elevation Change: 650 feet
Difficulty Rating: C

Best Seasons: Spring Summer Fall Winter (I don't agree with summer)
Hiking Time: 3 hours
Dogs: Dogs not allowed

This is a very easy and popular hike to the incredible Seven Falls. Everyone who lives in Tucson should make the trip at least once. Even though this hike is in the hot lower elevations, I list it as a summer hike because you can cool off in the pools at Seven Falls, and get your clothes wet so they keep you cool on the hike back.
